A June-tastic Month for RCMB1                                                                   June 28, 2013

From the road to the mountains, RCMB1 grabbed the opportunity to join the community in its efforts to remind people what matters in today's age.

RCMB1 personnel hit the road early on the 5th of this month for a Fun Walk sponsored by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. It was for the celebration of the World Environmental Day. The Branch, alongside DOLE RO1, and with other agencies, carried with them banners, posters or placards bearing slogans about giving importance to and protecting Mother Nature.

The Migrant Workers' Day was also held to honor overseas Filipino workers on June 6, 2013. It was attended by OIC Director Helena R. Flores and was initiated by the OWWA regional office. It was a great time to recognize the significant contribution and acknowledge these people's sacrifices abroad for the sake of decent living.

Continuously working for the promotion of industrial peace, the Branch conducted a team building/enhancement activity at Great Plebeian College, Alaminos City, Pangasinan. No less than 60 personnel of the college participated. Emphasis was given on the critical stages when building a team and the all too important role of communication in solidifying the unity of such.

During the 115th anniversary of the country's independence, the Branch joined the city government of San Fernando in a simple wreath-laying ceremony at the national hero's monument fronting the city hall.

Three Branch personnel, in connection to DENR's World Environmental Day Celebration, joined a fun-filled tree planting activity held in the mountains of Pugo, La Union.' Going through probably not more than a kilometer of steep, narrow, and a-slight-off-your-balance-and-your-down mountain trail, the three big boys of the Branch got to the planting sight and dug in 30 tree seedlings.

It was truly fun going up the mountains and digging in some plants. But the fun never stops even going down the trail when you feel your knees buckle holding up your weight, sliding on your step and landing on your pants just when you are only three steps away from making it to the mountain foot, and getting a bumpy ride back home because you could not step on the breaks hard enough to go smoothly over road humps.
