Security Guard Returns to Work                                                                  June 24, 2013

A security guard made it back to work after having been cut off from service.

Michael P. Ursua of Ili Norte, San Juan La Union, presented his case to this Office on June 3, 2013 through the Single Entry Approach Program. He alleged that he was illegally dismissed from his services. He works as a security guard at Holcim Philippines, Incorporated - La Union Plant, Quirino, Bacnotan La Union.

After the conduct of investigation and given the chance to explain in writing, Ursua was given a memorandum dated May 24, 2013 notifying him of his penalty for having violated Article 8 Section 6.F.3 of the Security Personnel Handbook referring to unauthorized use of company materials, supplies, tools, equipment and/or other property.

Mr. Ursua met with Blue Force Security Agency representative Mr. Reymund T. Rebadulla on a conference on June 4, 2013. The latter presented a communication from BFSA's HR Department to the former's detachment commander at Holcim, Mr. Samuel Elep, informing him that Ursua will be returning to duty effective May 25, 2013.

Mr. Ursua told this office that his reprimand was due to him lending a grilling tool owned by the plant's manager.

Rebadulla said that the memorandum was not relayed to Ursua immediately causing him to report an issue of illegal dismissal to this Office.

He returned to work with a new assignment at Poro Point area, City of San Fernando, La Union.
