2013 Labor Day Peaceful and Succcessful                                                      May 6, 2013

May 1, 2013 saw yet another meaningful Labor Day celebration in Region 1.

 

Spearheaded by the DOLE-RCC Chairman Director Grace Y. Ursua, DOLE RO1, hand in hand with its attached agencies, efficiently conducted the region-wide Jobs Fair that was simultaneously done in three key areas within the region.

 

Prior to the said Jobs Fair, the DOLE-RCC conducted a Pre-Labor Day press conference at Star Plaza Hotel, Dagupan City. Representatives from various media groups, both print and broadcast were present. It was attended to by Director Ursua, RTWPB Board Secretary Nathaniel Pineda, POEA Head Ms. Nonette Cobarubias, OWWA OIC Mr. Gerry Rimorin, NCMB representative Mr. Lester B. Panem and TESDA Director Mr. Cenon Querubin.

 

The celebration hailed the theme Mangagawang Pilipino: Handa sa Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon.

 

"Ang mga manggagawang Pilipino ay katuwang natin sa pagbabago. Masipag, buo and loob, at may matatag na pananalig sa sa sarili at sa Panginoong Diyos...Anumang pagsubok ay kaya niyang harapin at pagtagumpayan maabot lamang ang knayangmga pangarap para sa sarili, para sa pamilya at para sa bayan,"Director Ursua quoted as she read part of DOLE Secretary Baldoz' Labor Day message.

 

The said Jobs Fair launched at three key areas in the region: SM City - Rosales and Robinson's Place - Calasiao, Pangasinan, and at Batac, Ilocos Norte. The foremost being scheduled for a two-day affair to accomodate more of those who are seeking employment.

 

The NCMB RB1 attended the fair at Rosales, Pangasinan being a member of the Regional Coordinating Council. Later in the afternoon, the NCMB staff joined Director Ursua hitting the road to Robinson's Place at Calasiao, Pangasinan to participate also in the event.

 

However, Sr. LEO Corpuz maned the officewith respect to the reactivation of the task force Strategic Action Group for Industrial Peace to monitor any concerted and mass actions during the holiday.

 

At the end of the day, it was a wonderful and peaceful celebration of the Labor Day.
